Catalonia appoints new "Business Ambassadors"
Tuesday, 24 November 2009
Direct Foreign Investment in Catalonia should not be drastically affected by the current economic crisis and is expected to finish 2009 with a performance similar to last year's, Invest in Catalonia director Susanna Tintoré said during the meeting of "Ambassadors of Catalonia" held in Barcelona. Ms. Tintoré indicated that Invest in Catalonia, an office with Catalan agency ACC1Ó, is currently managing 161 projects to create new businesses or increase the presence of current ones in Catalonia. About 70% of all projects involve foreign companies, with 30% belonging to companies not yet established in Catalonia.
During the meeting, Catalan Industry minister Josep Huguet appointed a new group of 7 Catalonia Business Ambassadors, to be added to the 28 existing ones, all of them with top executive positions abroad in multinational companies.
The goal of the "Ambassadors" program is twofold. First, promote the image of Catalonia as a prime location for the implementation of business investment projects and, secondly, to make known Invest in Catalonia and the services it provides companies with business investment projects.
